Mr. Sorace brings more than 20 years of experience to Providence Resources Corp. He has been the founder, served as a Director and held President & CEO positions for numerous private and public companies in the resource sector. Mr. Sorace is also a founding partner of Venture One Capital Corp., a venture capital firm focusing on opportunities in the mining, energy and technology sectors. Mr. Sorace has raised over $50 million in debt and equity financings and possesses extensive experience in operations, strategic planning, corporate development and the capital markets.
Gavin Cooper, CA
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Cooper is a Chartered Accountant with over 35 years of experience in all aspects of financial management and administration. He is an accomplished executive, who has experience with public and private companies operating in Canada and abroad, and has a significant record of achievement in the areas of strategic change, financial management and stakeholder relations. Mr. Cooper holds a Bachelor in Accounting (Honors) from the University of South Africa. He currently is a director and/or acts as CFO and corporate secretary of various TSX Venture-listed companies.
Alan J. Wainwright, Ph.D., P.Geo.
Chief Geologist
Dr. Wainwright is an economic geologist with mineral exploration and research experience in North America, South America and Asia. Since 1999, he has worked on exploration campaigns in world-class copper, gold, lead-zinc and nickel districts with several exploration firms and senior mining companies. Dr. Wainwright completed his Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia on the super-giant porphyry Cu-Au deposits at Oyu Tolgoi (Ivanhoe Mines; Mongolia), and was a senior member of the Kaminak Gold Corp. discovery team at Coffee (3.2 Moz Au; Yukon). He is accredited by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.
Daniel MacNeil, M.Sc., P.Geo.
Project Acquisition and Development
Mr. MacNeil has been active in mineral exploration for the last 11 years. He has worked for major mining companies, including Anglo-American and Barrick Gold Corp. as well as junior explorers, such as Cardero Resource Corp. and Providence Resources Corp. Mr. MacNeil has been involved in the exploration in and around the Raglan Mine (nickel-copper-PGE; Eskay Creek (gold; British Columbia), Round Mountain (gold; Nevada), Hemlo (gold; Ontario) and Donlin Creek (gold; Alaska). He has also managed generative exploration and target delineation projects in North and South America and has extensive experience evaluating advanced-stage third party exploration projects for acquisition.
Leanne Smar, B.Sc.
Special Projects Geologist
Ms. Smar graduated in 2009 from Carleton University with a B.Sc. Honours in Earth Sciences, and is currently completing her M.Sc. in Geology at The University of British Columbia, with a specialization in structural geology, metamorphic petrology and geochronology. She comes to us with a strong background in detailed structural mapping, having worked in northern Ontario's granite-greenstone terrains, Labrador's Central Mineral Belt (uranium exploration), Yukon's Tombstone intrusive suite (gold exploration), and the Northwest Territories' Wopmay Orogen. Leanne draws from six seasons of field experience in remote camps, with TSX Venture listed companies, as well as provincial and territorial geological surveys.
Emily Davis
Corporate Secretary
Ms. Davis has over 19 years of experience providing a variety of administrative and corporate services to TSX Venture listed companies in the financial, technology and natural resource sectors. Prior to joining Desert Star Resources, she worked in administration with Silver Standard, providing direct support to the President and CEO. Ms. Davis was Manager, Administration for Skye Resources Inc., which was acquired by HudBay Minerals Inc. for $460M in 2008. She has also worked with several merchant banks, managing a portfolio of private and public companies, focused on mining, energy and technology.
Benjamin Curry
Director
Mr. Curry has a capital markets background and has acted as an advisor for numerous Toronto Stock Exchange-listed resource issuers. He has experience within the resources industry and with assisting in equity financings. He currently acts as Vice President for Vancouver-based Network IR where he leads marketing and financing initiatives. Mr. Curry obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia.
Kyle Stevenson
Director
Mr. Stevenson obtained a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Victoria in 1997 and began his career in the financial industry while working with a national brokerage firm. Since 2004, Mr. Stevenson has managed his own investor relations firm, specializing in raising money and marketing for early stage mining companies. Mr. Stevenson is currently a director of Providence Resources and a director and president of High North Resources.
Martin Bajic
Director
Mr. Bajic holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Diploma in Accounting from the University of British Columbia and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC. He has over ten years of accounting and finance experience including positions of auditor, officer, director and consultant of public and private entities. He is currently the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Patriot Petroleum Corp. and Clemson Resources Corp., public companies on the TSX Venture Exchange.
